LakeClan History and Facts

(Thanks to Silverstar of StormClan for letting me do this! ;) )

*A few loners, rouges, kitty-pets, or lost clan cats comes wondering into LakeClan territory. Luckily, Dreamstar is on a patrol.*

Hello! Why are you wandering around LakeClan territory?

*Dreamstar listens intently.*

Ahhh... I see. You come to seek shelter, family and love. Well, LakeClan has all of that! But I must first tell you about LakeClan's history and territory! Our history makes us: us, though we do not dwell on it.

*Dreamstar purrs.*

Oh yes. Silly me. I forgot to introduce myself!  My name is Dreamstar, the current leader of LakeClan! I have many secrets, but those shall not be told until my dying breath! Now, let me tell you a bit about our history....

Lakestar was the first leader of LakeClan. His ancestors come from RiverClan, but with Tribe roots also. He was a loner, but a born leader! Soon, many cats were leaving clans, in pursuit of leadership, or a place they fit in more! Lake, which was his name before he became leader, recruited many different cats! All loved water. But he was not happy with the way his group was gathered. They constantly fought amongst themselves, and rarely did they agree on one thing! Lake got frustrated, and soon lost his patience. He wanted to leave this horrible group, and live by himself again. Then one night, one thing changed his mind.

Lake fell asleep one night, and dreamt of a small she-cat, only 9 moons old. The she-cat had recently died defending herself from one of the more ruthless cats in Lake's group. Lake thought he was just dreaming, but the she-cat had a starry pelt, much like those of StarClan. He had heard stories of StarClan, and would only believe it was true when he saw it. Now, he was staring at one. The she-cat dipped her head.

"Lake. You must tame your group. Receive nine lives, and create ranks. You will be Lakestar. Leader of the newly named LakeClan. Find a small cave. There will be a stone jutting out from it. Go there when the moon is in the sky. There, is where you shall meet your warrior ancestors, and receive your nine lives. Go tomorrow night. Prepare your group. For they shall be a clan. LakeClan, the best clan in the forest. And remember me as Turningpaw. For that is a warrior name."

The she-cat dipped her head, and faded away. Lake woke with a start. Turningpaw.... Lake jumped up. He had to make LakeClan. He went searching for this cave, and finally found it just as the moon was rising. Lake was about to leap over to mall stream, when he saw a pebble shining brightly. He looked at it with confusion, and picked it up. For some reason, he felt inclined to carry it up the jutting rock. There was a small pool at the top, made out of rainwater. He put the pebble in the pool, and closed his eyes. His paw was wrapped protectively around the pebble. Here, Lake received nine lives, and the name Lakestar. He went back to his group, and made them listen. He announced to them about StarClan. Most of them believed him, but, those who did not, left. Leaving quiet vengeance hanging in the air. Lakestar gave all cats warrior names. And appointed his first deputy, Sorrelfrost. She had been a kitty-pet named Jersey. Sorrelfrost nodded acceptance. She would be loyal to LakeClan, right until her last breath. Lakestar smiled proudly at his clan. There would be no more fighting against each other. And in the morning, they would establish borders! They would have thier own territory!

Lakestar is my kin, and he was a magnificent cat. He listened and understand Turningpaw right away. Some say he even walks the paths of Ancient StarClan with his mate, Peakriver, and the young she-cat who led him on his way to victory, Turningpaw. Though he visits me in dreams every now and then. He was a great leader, and after he died, his deputy, Rainstone became leader. Sorrelfrost had died of extensive battle wounds, and did not make it. She would have made a wonderful leader though, and we still honour her today. Rainstar was a great leader, all in all, and died of old age. He died, knowing his deputy, Skyleap, would be a great leader. Though some remember, that Skyleap was never truly his deputy... but not many remembered how Rainstar's true deputy, Surgingraven, died on his way to the MoonCave. I only remember slightly, from faded stories. Skyleap was chosen by StarClan, though she was not supposed to be leader, she was the only choice. Skyleap though, did a fine job. She took LakeClan above and beyond, but in different ways then StarClan would have liked. She had an ambitious, but not evil, mind. She pushed them, and created many new battle moves. Skystar was killed by a rival leader, and her third deputy, Freezeripple became Freezestar. Her first deputy was Shadowmist, who became an elder, and her second deputy was Oceansurge, who died of Green-cough. Freezestar was an extraordinary leader though. One of the best. He had only one deputy, Miststorm, and he died fighting off a badger. Miststorm then became Miststar. This is where I come in. Miststar made Flameriver, my uncle, her deputy. He died of internal bleeding, and I became deputy. I served loyally, and became leader the night Miststar had died from a fox. My warrior name was Dreamriver, and then I became Dreamstar. And here I am today. Now, let me tell you a bit about our territory....

LakeClan has a VERY huge territory! When MarshClan left the forest, LakeClan took their territory. But then MarshClan came back, but they allowed LakeClan to keep their old territory, and found new territory. LakeClan's territory must be one of the largest, competing with StormClan's territory. LakeClan territory consists of a river that runs along two of LakeClan's borders, and through the middle of the territory. This river also splits into a small stream that flows through the LakeClan camp. There is a large lake in the middle of LakeClan territory, which provides great cover all year round. There are also a few small mountains. There are many Oak Trees in LakeClan territory, though LakeClan cats are not fans of climbing. LakeClan's forest floor is very soft and lush. It is padded down with ferns, and oak leaves. This provides very soft, and silent walking.

LakeClan's prey is very plentiful, and LakeClan's main diet consists of fish, voles, and rabbits. LakeClan cats are large fans of fish, and feed off of them throughout all of the seasons! Though LakeClan also hunt birds, mice and many other small creatures except rats, frogs and snakes. Though, in some of the colder Leaf-Bare's, when the lake and the river both freeze up, LakeClan cats sometimes go starved for days at a time. Queens, kits and elders are always fed first, but they always end up skinny also. But once New-Leaf comes... we regain our strength, and are one of the strongest clans yet again.

The MoonCave is the sacred meeting area for LakeClan Medicine Cat's. Here is where LakeClan Medicine Cat's come to share dreams with StarClan. The Mooncave is quite a sight, with a small stream running in front of the entrance. This stream carries the MoonPebbles. These MoonPebbles are sacred. Then with the large rock in the middle. The MoonCave is defiantly one of a kind.
The MoonCrest was discovered by Dreamstar. She went to the MoonCave, and StarClan would not come to her. Then, she saw Cloudriver, and he told her this is not where leader's from lakeClan shall come from now on. He told her she must find a new place, the MoonCrest. The MoonCrest is beautiful. It is on the top of a mountain peak, and has rock walls surrounding it. It has a pool in the middle, and a small path winding around the mountain up to the clearing. There is usually one lone flower by the MoonCrest, brought there by the wind. The leader takes a petal off of the flower, and places it in the pool. the MoonCrest is sacred.
The Lake Rocks are golden rocks that quickly pick up the heat of the sun. These rocks are beside the river running through our territory. Elders and queens go here to sunbathe. This place is also full of prey. Mice and voles are everywhere, so it is also one of a warriors favourite places to hunt.
The Moss Rocks are covered in moss. They are not far from the LakeClan camp, which let's our warriors and apprentices gather moss with ease. The moss is very soft, and usually always dry. This moss has been there since the beginning of LakeClan, and hopefully always will.
The Cloud Tree is a very tall and spindly tree. Since LakeClan cats do not favour climbing, it is usually not used for climbing. Though sometimes brave and daring apprentices climb it for fun. After their first climb, they usually don't climb it again. Though it is always fun to watch our daring apprentices try new stuff!

Now, you know the basic outline of the territory. Let me move onto our camp!

LakeClan's camp is very large, it has been expanded numerous times, and must also, be one of the largest. The LakeClan camp is surrounded by very thick walls to keep intruders out. Our walls consists of thorns, brambles, bracken, vines, and leaves. There are also some trees helping connect the different sections. The LakeClan camp is very lovely, and soothing with the soft trickling of the stream running through the middle.

The Leader's Den is a small cave in the ground. it is thought that it was once a badger den. The cave is surrounded by ferns and fronds of tall grass. This keeps the den cool in Green-Leaf, and warm in leaf-bare. The inside of the den is covered with sand. When moss is put down, it is very comfortable.
The Medicine Cat's Den looks like a bush, because well, it is. But when you travel farther through the narrow entrance leading to the open room, it slowly turns into a cave. There are many little crevices, making little storage shelves for herbs. Recently a side cave was discovered. This room is much larger then the Medicine Cat Den, and is still in work. This room still has some indecision about what it's going to be used for. Right now it is being used as a Safe-Haven in case of an attack.
The Warriors Den has a small entrance, but soon opens up to a very large cave in the ground. the cave's entrance slopes downwards, then upwards into an above ground, fern den. This den is very large, and has been expanded numerous times, just like the camp. This den will eventually get too small, as it has a limit to how large it can go. This den was made by LakeClan cats inside a cave, and every time it gets bigger, the fern sides get closer to the cool cave wall. This den is very warm, but yet cool.
The Apprentices Den is a small crack in part of the camp wall. This crack attaches to a cave. LakeClan cats had to maneuver the camp wall to go around the small entrance. This cave is not as large as the Warriors Den, but still quite large. It has stone walls, yet a sand floor. This cave is believed to have been a pool at one point in time, as there is a deep hole at the back of the den. If you look into the hole and listen closely, you can hear water moving beneath you. This den provides an ideal spot for rowdy apprentices to play.
The Nursery is a large depression in the ground, that is covered thickly with brambles, thorns, ferns, bracken and branches. This den is the safest of them all. Though it does not look safe, it is very well padded. Full grown warriors can jump on the paw-made roof, and it would not fall. Their is a small tunnel in the back, leading to an escape route. This den is always very warm because it was very well padded. Though in Green-Leaf, LakeClan warriors replace the roof with a much thinner roof. The roof though, is still as strong. But it keeps the queens and kits cooler.
The Elder's Den is a fallen Oak Tree. This tree is now hollow, and a very good shelter for Elders as it is very large. There is natural moss growing in the tree, though new moss is still laid down. This is the most comfortable den, so it is perfect for those grumpy elders.
The LakeRock is a large stone with a large, hollow middle. This hollow middle only reaches half way through the rock, and has been carved away by the elements. This stone is great to sunbathe on, though usually only the leader sunbathes on it.

Now you know the main prospect of LakeClan's camp! Now, we can be on our way to the next part of our tour! Now let me tell you about our characteristics a bit!

LakeClan cats are able to dive, swim, fish, and even swim underwater. We are also the only cats able to hold out breathes for a longer period of time in water, and see underwater!!! We are able to see underwater the best. Other Clans may be able to see underwater, but not as good as LakeClan cats! LakeClan cats have the best eye-sight underwater, in all of the clans! LakeClan cats have a special layer around their eyes, that allow them to stay dry, and stay open for longer periods of time. This also magnifies their vision underwater, which allows them to see clearly. This helps us hunt, and even fight more effectively. Our special eyes also helps us see in the dark greatly! Our lungs are larger then other cats, which allows us to breathe in more air, and hold our breathes longer. We are descendants of the Ancient Clan RiverClan, ShadowClan, WindClan, and ThunderClan. Though we lack the abilities of our great ancestors SkyClan. RiverClan, ShadowClan and WindClan make up most of our blood. But what we lack in ThunderClan and SkyClan skills, we make up with our other skills. We are also descendants of the great clan, LeopardClan. We can stalk quieter then any other clan cat, and we have great stealth. With all of our clan blood, we also have a bit of kitty-pet blood, but now that much. We also have some loner and rouge blood. But these loners, rouges, and kitty-pets all have either LeopardClan, RiverClan, ShadowClan, WindClan and ThunderClan blood in them, so we are not too widely spread. LakeClan blood is some of the purest out there. We are very proud of our lineage, because we are one of the few clans who have kept the blood of our ancient clans pure.

LakeClan cats pelts are very glossy, and always sleek. Our pelts are the most waterproof our of all clans, and slick. This aids us in swimming through the water with very high speeds! Our paws are thickly webbed, which allows us to push the water behind us, which also gives us speed! Our tails are much longer then other clan cats, and with one flick of the tail, we can spin on a dime, in water, and on land. All LakeClan cats bodies are slim, and graceful. We also have very long legs, that extends our strides, and help us race through the forest. Our legs are longer then any other cats. This feature suggests that we also have descendants far in warm lands, where it never gets cold, and there are few plants here and there. This land has large hoofed animals, with stripes. We are thought to be descendants of slim, long-legged, spotted cats from this land. Our long legs allow us to be one of the fastest clans in the forest. Our claws are very deadly weapons. Our claws are short, but curled, so when we attack an intruder, our claws shred their pelts. Our teeth are short, but have a sort of spiked edge, which helps with tearing. LakeClan's cats have deadly weapons, and you don't want to mess with our techniques.

Now I have one last part of my tour before I let you decide if you would like to join LakeClan! Some of our most useful battle moves that describe us!

Silent Speed-

1) Stalk quietly up on the enemy intruder. Remember to step softly on your pads, and avoid any twigs or dried leaves.
2)Silently start to speed up until you get in front of the intruder.
3) Remember to stay downwind of your intruder
4) Circle around the intruder until you are behind them again.
5) Race towards your intruder silently, make sure to stay in the shadows.
6) Leap out at the intruder, and yowl, then dart around to the other side of the intruder.
7) If you continue to do this a few times, the intruder may get disoriented. They may also catch on to your tactic.

If the intruder gets disoriented...

8) Leap out from behind and claw the intruders flank with your curled claws.
9) The intruder will spin around, but you will have already disappeared. Quickly slip out of the shadows again, and swipe your paws across their paws, making them fall to the ground.
10) Leap back into the shadows again, and nip at your intruder, melting in with the shadows as you leap back and forth in between, coming in at all directions.
11) Soon enough your intruder will be chased away!

If they catch on to your tactic...

8) Then start to run around your intruder silently.
9) Step on a twig every once and a while.
10) Then, leap out from behind and claw the intruders with your curled claws.
The intruder will spin around, but you will have already disappeared. Quickly slip out of the shadows again, and swipe your paws across their paws, making them fall to the ground.
11) Leap back into the shadows again, and nip at your intruder, melting in with the shadows as you leap back and forth in between, coming in at all directions.
12) Soon enough your intruder will be chased away!

Water Streak-

1) Lead your intruder to the lake.
2) Silently slip in, and dive under.
3) Make sure to get plenty of air in your longs.
4) Keep your eyes partially above the water, to watch and see what the intruder is doing.
5) The intruder will be looking for you, so silently wait.
6) After a while, your intruder will turn around and start looking for the camp again.
7)When they do this, silently wade out of the water
8) Streak forward towards the intruder.
9) Leap at the intruder. The intruder will be surprised as you launch yourself at them, for you are soaking wet.
10) Claw and bite the intruder with your razor like claws and teeth.
11) Now, the intruder will be angry. Race away, and lead the intruder back to the water.
12) Slip into the water, the intruder may attempt to follow you.
13) When the intruder is scanning the water, leap out full force at the intruder.
You will bowl him over, and soak them again.
14) Claw the intruder a bit more, before slipping back into the water again. Melting away.
15) If the intruder leaves, then you have victory! If the intruder continues to search for you, continue to do this move. If they start to race towards camp, race after them, you will easily catch up. Then proceed with Silent Speed from up above. Your intruder will eventually give up!

Now! That is the end of our tour! I hope you enjoy LakeClan enough to join! You will be fully welcomed here! And also since you are all looking for shelter, family and love. LakeClan would be the place to find that stuff. We are very welcoming. I hope you decide the right path for you, and I hope StarClan with be with you, and light your path!

That's really cool! Well done! It looks like it must have taken awhile! :) Do you think I could do something like that on my clan?
